Located in between the Museum Quarter and one of the most famous shopping streets in Amsterdam, Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat is the Jan Luyken hotel, named after the street, where the accommodation is situated in the Jan Luijkenstraat. Nicemakers were responsible for restyling the common areas on the ground floor.
Taking into account the vibrant ambience of the area, the layout of the ground floor reflects the feeling of radiating warm energy. We took on the clients brief of wanting to evoke the feeling of comfort you get on arrival in your own home, for guests when arriving at the townhouse. Subtle touches like the addition of tactile wallpaper into shelving niches, paired with larger interventions like the free standing reception desk which guests can walk around, reminiscent of a large kitchen island. Most of the furniture were curated by us at vintage and antique fairs from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy. Creating an eclectic mix of more 'worn in' cosy pieces and some contemporary furniture, like guests would see at home.
