Photograhy by Alan Jensen, Marc Heldens                                                                                                                                                                                         Reggedal, NL

Landgoed Vels, located within the National Park 'De Sallandse Heuvelrug', sits on the outskirts of the 'Reggedal', a historic trade route near Hellendoorn. This region is characterized by naturally formed river dunes that eventually defined the catchment area of the old river Regge. The old farm, called ‘Vels’ originates from the seventeenth century, making it of importance to uphold the cultural and history of the building.

The Salland nature served as the primary inspiration for this project, influencing the color palette, materials, atmospheres, and textures Everything is interconnected, blending the interior atmosphere seamlessly with the surrounding nature. The three large windows emphasize the views, ensuring an uninterrupted connection with the landscape, allowing optimal enjoyment of the beautiful garden and natural surroundings from all angles.

Incorporating local inspirations and materials from the region such as clay plaster, lime paint, flax and linen but also with colours of the surrounding nature helped to preserve the project's cultural heritage. This fusion of old and new emphasizes craftsmanship, with traditional materials being utilized in innovative ways and modern materials applied with traditional techniques. While vintage pieces are typically integrated into our projects, adding Dutch antiques, primarily sourced from the surrounding area, contributes to enriching the historical narrative. The renovation of Landgoed Vels revolves around the creation of a warm and inviting interior, where each space feels individually and characteristically yet harmoniously intertwined. Altogether, this authentic farm creates a comfortable family-retreat.
