Originally a century-old landmark built by the Royal Dutch Llyod Shipping Company in 1921, the Llyod landmark has been transformed into one of the newest additions to The Hoxton hotels located in the Eastern Docklands in Amsterdam. Renewing our collaboration with the Hoxton brand, to create 136 bedrooms, including public spaces such as the reception and lobby, and the so-called icons of The Hoxton hotels: The Apartment as meeting and event spaces, as well as the bedroom typologies of the Cosy, Roomy, the Biggy and lastly the Studio.

The design concept was developed to offer a new modern interpretation, through featuring the original period art-deco style while maintaining to value the building’s heritage. Resulting into a play of vibrant colours, bold shapes, and graphic patterns in combination with vintage pieces and restoring elements such as stained-glass windows, wooden panels and original tiles

Drawing inspiration from the eclectic architectural style with hints of art-deco, which emerged in the 1920s, Nicemakers created a design that incorporates graphical elements and ornaments. This is portrayed in the use of warm colours, such as coral, red, and ochre in contrast with calm blue and grey tones, and highlights of chrome and golden bronze materials.
