A modern revision of the ‘traditional Italian trattoria’, was the story behind creating the design concept for Trattoria Graziella located in Hotel de L’Europe. Our aim was to translate the story behind Chef Luigi di Benedetto, who is originally from Siano, a village in the south of Italy into the interior. Creating authentic Italian dishes such as, burrata, vitello tonnato, spaghetti al Pomodoro or a bresaola with rucola and parmesan cheese. But also revising these classics with a modern twist.

 

The idea for the design concept came out of a book, called ‘Venice’, the book reveals the kitchens in palaces. Showing the place where for many years traditional Italian cooking has been the centre of attention. After demolition of the space, the original wooden wall panels revealed themselves, and we were able to integrate them within the design and the calm surrounding of the space. The centred bar was designed, to cater for solo traveller of the hotel and invite them to enjoy a wonderful dinner. The space and interior set the scene, to the extraordinary dishes served by the chef holding on to the feeling of the ‘kitchen’ of the ‘palace’ creating a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere.
